After using various FREE WordPress themes as a training ground for this great CMS platform I found it was time to add a bit of pizazz to my two websites. And so onto the Internet I went hunting for a reasonably priced premium theme that would give me design and layout flexibility for my posts and pages and spruce up the overall look of the website.
Without having to create a child theme.
Enter Elegant Themes.
After browsing several premium theme provides I stumbled across a fair review of the DIVI Theme by Elegant Themes.
What makes them attractive?
The two elements I have already mentioned; price and flexibility in design.
And what Elegant Themes provides is the DIVI BUILDER and the VISUAL BUILDER, which have recently become available across for all 89 themes they offer.
For all my sites I have used the DIVI Theme, including this one.
It is the use of these two page and post creation and editing tools that makes Elegant Themes different from what I have been exposed to in the past.
So what is the DIVI Builder platform?
Differing from every other Elegant themes, the original DIVI theme was built on a page builder platform designed and developed from the ground up. Using Divi’s drag and drop builder, you can create beautiful layouts with ease and control over every part of your site. The builder uses three main building blocks: Sections, Rows, and Modules. Using this structure in unison allows you to create countless amounts of page layouts.
The GREAT NEWS is that the DIVI Builder is available to all Elegant Themes through the Divi Builder Plugin 2.0 which now includes the Visual Builder.
What the Visual Builder does for you is to allow you to edit in real time without switching back and forth between the front and backend of your site.
Here are some examples of what you can do with it:
Switching over to Elegant Themes
Although I experienced the usual bugs and problems when moving to a new theme, I have been able to overcome almost all of them by either falling back on the numerous training and knowledge base videos on the Elegant site, or by being creative with the versatile modules which come with the themes.
Building a site with the drag and drop feature, which personifies Divi is simple, once you grasp the logic of the Settings, Rows and Columns layout, and a whole heap of fun. No, it is not without its problems but as mentioned above, by using the many tools provided with the theme, most hiccups can be resolved.
As with most theme providers, support is offered in two formats.
Each of the Elegant themes is supported by both video and written training and this is especially relevant with their two most recent themes, Divi and Extra.
The videos and written support encompasses the basic features as well as explaining exactly how the Divi Builder and the Visual Builder works as well as each of the theme modules. There are even individual videos introducing the new user to the logic behind the Sections, Rows and Columns and making the drag and drop feature easily understandable.
I have not had much call to contact the live support but on the odd occasion that I have made use of their email service, I have to admit that it is no better, or worse than other theme providers I have used in the past. Unlike some theme developers, Elegant does provide a very in depth knowledge base and I ascribe my lack of having to contact Support to this feature.
I am aware that there has been some complaints about the live support in terms of either a slow response or no response at all. I have not personally encountered this although as already mentioned my exposure has been very limited.
But in all fairness, I have rarely encountered a product which boasts a flawless support structure – maybe I have just been unlucky.
Elegant themes offer 89 themes and their offer is based on a “pay for one and get access to all” pitch, including their 6 plugins. They also offer a “no questions asked” 30 money back guarantee.

Bloom is an email opt-in plugin that was built to help you grow your email list. Bloom works by adding email opt-in forms to your website, each of which can connect to your email marketing or email newsletter software.
I would unreservedly recommend the Divi and Extra themes both to beginners and WordPress competent users.
For the first time I have been able to build sites, pages and posts that reflect what I want and not have to mould them around what the theme can offer.
